This ordinance is set forth in order to accomplish the following objectives:
(a) To declare the City and County of San Francisco's opposition to any form of religious discrimination.
(b) To influence any discriminatory practices of American corporations doing business in Northern Ireland.
(c) To support efforts to effect peaceful change with regard to the situation in Northern Ireland by means that are prudent and responsible.
(d) To send legislation to the government of the United Kingdom stating that the people of San Francisco oppose religious discrimination and encouraging the government of the United Kingdom to take more pro-active measures in support of affirmative action.
(e) To express the support of the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco for the implementation of the MacBride Principles by companies from the United States who conduct business in Northern Ireland.
